Frequently Asked Questions

Some questions that frequently come up around coaching.....

What is coaching?

Coaching is a supportive partnership where we work together to uncover what truly matters to you. We will set meaningful goals and create a path forward that feels right for your unique life. Through open conversations and thoughtful questions, I’ll help you unlock your strengths, navigate challenges, and find new possibilities in your life.

Unlike a lot of therapy, coaching is all about moving forward and finding your own answers, with me as your guide and sounding board. We’ll set achievable goals together, and I’ll be here to encourage, motivate, and support you every step of the way.

Coaching is about helping you shine and feel empowered in a way that is meaningful and relevant to your life and your timeframe!

How is ADHD Coaching different?

In a nutshell, ADHD coaching looks at life's challenges through an ADHD lens. ADHD coaching provides a specialized, understanding, and skills-based approach tailored to the unique needs of individuals with ADHD, while life coaching is broader and may not account for the nuances of managing ADHD challenges.

We will uncover how ADHD plays a role in your every day life and build strategies and plans that work with your ADHD, not against it. Challenges with executive function skills are common with ADHD so we take things like working memory, time blindness, organisation and attention levels into account while we are working together.

Do I need a diagnosis before working with an ADHD Coach?

No! A formal diagnosis is useful for many things but if you self-identify as having ADHD or relate to ADHD challenges then ADHD coaching can help!

Many people find things like organisation, time management and planning a challenge. An ADHD coach can help with all area's of executive function and non-executive cognitive processes, regardless of a diagnosis.

What kind of goals can coaching help with?

Coaching can help with everything from your career, to relationships, to school, to personal growth. As long as we don't cross over into therapy, no topic is off limits!

How long does coaching take?

The time you spend with a coach depends on the type of goals you have, the time and capacity you have to follow through with plans and strategies and your unique journey through life.

Goals such as a career change may take less time than a goal of improving your life overall. Remember though, there is no one size fits all in coaching, each session is tailored to your specific needs, goals and circumstances.

Will the coach truly understand my ADHD challenges?

Yes! I have ADHD and I get it. I am also the parent to a child with ADHD, so I get that too!

I am trained as a specialised ADHD coach through the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA). ADHD coach training involves looking at everything through an ADHD lens. ADHD brains are unique and present specific challenges that are very different to neurotypical brains!
